From Mysticism To Rationalism - A Necessary Change For Psychology

The early Greek philosophers affected psychology because they challenged the traditional church and began to explore our world with rationality instead of blind faith. They questioned the authority and traditions of their time. They looked for answers that could be observed in the natural world. For example, Hunt (1993) writes, Alcmaeon suggested that the brain, rather than organs such as the heart, is where thinking and processing occur. Hunt also writes that Hippocrates believed that answers regarding mental dysfunction would be found in the natural world instead of within gods, demons and evil spirits. These philosophers have initiated changes and have encouraged the freedom for future scientists to explore our world. Thus, this has enhanced our knowledge base.

Strange Deep Underground Experiences - What Is Really Beneath Our Feet?

You may in the past have come across odd stories, many considered nothing more than ancient legend, about explorers finding huge underground areas the size of small cities. These underground locations would often have strange artifacts, perhaps even ones which would be considered anomalous by the currently held beliefs of scientists. Such stories may include even more novelty - reports of reptilian humanoid creatures which live underground, or vast amounts of valuable treasures. If you dig deep enough, you will learn that these reptilian beings - of which there may be several sorts - only inhabit caves where people are not commonly exploring. Clearly if the underground reptilians exist, they do not wish to have much interaction with us surface dwellers.

Dutch Language - An Overview From A Translation Company

Dutch language started to take shape at the middle of the 5th century AD. The language spoken by the inhabitants of the Netherlands back then was called Old Dutch and it developed from Lower Franconian (Niederfränkisch), a dialect of Low German.

Middle Dutch was the language used during the 12th and the 15th century and since the year 1500 we can speak of Modern Dutch, a language very similar to Standard Dutch, the language currently used by the Dutch people. Standard Dutch is called “Algemeen Beschaafd Nederlands” meaning “general civilized Dutch”.
The name of the Dutch language comes from the word Dietsc / Duutsc (language of the people), as people used to call it in the Middle Ages.

A prioritized spending plan will help you decide what is most important to purchase in your life. First, you will start by listing all the purchases you’d like to make. The time frame may be this week, month, year, or even longer.

Solving Congestion Problems With Salt Lake City Traffic

Statistics show the enormous population growth Salt Lake City area has experienced in recent ten years (sensusscope.org). This growth is expected to double sooner than most people think. This will have an impact on Salt Lake City Traffic. Our city already has a hard time keeping up with the smooth traffic flow of our transportation system. The following solutions provide an unusual and unique way of reducing traffic within city limits instead of using the old traditional methods of widening freeways that seem to be running out of room. For a healthier metropolitan area of the future, private transportation such as our privately owned cars, trucks, vans and SUVs need to stay out of the city. This will cause less time spent in traffic for more quality time, better health because of more walking, less traffic accidents, and more focus on public transportation for less noise and air pollution.

Parents Have No Power Over Public Schools

School Is Hell; a series of articles

“What seems undeniable is that there is a substantial contrast between the vision of what public education is supposed to be and the reality of schooling itself.”

– Bruce Goldberg, Why Schools Fail

In my state, Connecticut, children are not required to attend school, but the law requires children to be given instruction in certain basic skills and knowledge, and parents are responsible whether they send them to school or not. Public schools offer what they call “educational opportunities” but they take no responsibility for their results.
